Rich's Birthday/Broken Arm :(

The morning of Rich's birthday we woke to two busy beavers racing around the house wrapping anything they could get their hands on to give to Daddy for his birthday. IT was so sweet! they had these presents all lined up and ready for Daddy when he woke up. You should have seen Abby laugh and spin in circles when Rich opened her gift (a very long silver bead necklace!) :)
We were not given a whole lot of money (or any) to spend on Rich for his birthday so we made do w/ what we had. The kids and I baked him some of his favorite cookies. Everyone did their favorite color..
Luke w/ his green cookies!
Me w/ my white icing cookies! I don't like dye!
Abby w/ her pink and purple cookies! :)
Daddy ready to dive in to the cookies!! :)

Rich said for his birthday all he REALLY wanted to do was go play softball w/ his friends. The kids and I and Mamaw and Papaw all went along to watch. Rich was pitching b/c he can't run in the outfield w/ his leg yet, and he does a pretty good job pitching! Anyways... one of the guys NAILED one right at him.. he didn't catch it in time.. turned to get out of the way and it caught the back of his arm near his wrist. He fell to the ground in pain, and hobbled off the field w/ his torn Achilles tendon... and fresh bag of ice for his arm! He managed to go out to eat w/ me at Applebees, but looked like he was going to puke half of the meal. At home he went to bed early. The next morning he gave in and went to the ER and found out he has a spiral fracture. :(
Here he is the night after playing softball w/ an ace bandage.
Today Rich's Dad came over and helped get him started cutting boards for our play set.
We have a few piles finished. I was able to help Rich. He can cut if I help hold the board. We were a good team!!

Pile 2 of boards.
Rich's hand after working tonight. We are not sure why it's so puffy, b/c he didn't really use it. Either the wrap was too tight? or it's from hanging down all day. He can't use it at all b/c it hurts too much and it hurts to keep it in the sling. I'm not sure what kind of cast or splint they will put on him Monday? But for today he was able to take it off, shower, and ice it up a bit! Hopefully that will help the swelling.
