Abby's First Day of Preschool!
Luke
saying Good-bye to Abby before her first day of school
I can't believe my baby went off to her first day of preschool today. Even though she was a 1/2 a year older then Luke was when he started... she still seemed younger to me somehow! Abby has been anticipating this day with great joy since the day she turned 3, but when it actually came she was a little bit nervous. We were all ready to go out the door and she insisted that she still wanted to play. Then at school she told Rich and I that she was scared as she stood at the classroom door. (which seems only normal!!!) Luke was the odd ball! he walked right in w/ no fear and never looked back! Once in the class Abby seemed very content. She found her name on the door and placed it on the back wall. She happily walked over to see her teacher. Mommy and Daddy watched from the window for a minute and quickly left, hoping to not cause any trouble if she were to see us. I SOMEHOW left her backpack at home this morning.. she tried it on and must have dropped it as we were going out the door... so I raced back home and gave it to the office so she could hang it up on her hook like all the other kids. Today was a short day, to allow the teachers more individual time with each of the kids to help them adjust. Before I knew it I was back in line picking her up. Abby came out with a big smile. She said she liked preschool!! She had a hard time telling me all that she did. I remember the same with Luke, but I trust she had a good time! and we are thrilled that she has Luke's teacher!Back at home Luke was so sweet, he asked her about her day and made her a little present w/ wrapping paper he made himself (to help celebrate)! He asked to see in her back pack and he complimented her on the paper she brought home. It was sweet , he was asking her about the school calendar, if she had seen it or discussed it. He also told her all about "field trips" and how fun they were. It was really neat to see him share in her excitement of something he once enjoyed. Thursday is Abby's first full day. I bet she will be tired from a full morning. She may even take an afternoon nap. I was telling a friend that this is exciting. This was a milestone for me that I was looking forward to, getting both kids adjusted to school before the baby comes. It's all going to happen so fast! All for now! -Beth
