34 weeks pregnant...

Life is a bit crazy these days, I am having trouble keeping up w/ my blog!

Let's see.....

Monday the 14th of last week....I went in to get tested for a UTI. It was rather upsetting being in the lab where they wanted to test me, b/c all the nurses were wearing masks. I couldn't help but wonder... and the I heard someone mention "flu" and "H1...." I asked at the front desk if I needed to be concerned, and I mentioned I have 2 small kids w/ me and I'm pregnant. They suggested I wear a mask too... I declined and quickly left the room... back up to my OBGYN's office and asked them to call the test in to a new lab. Then I hauled the kids over there... brought them home and scrubbed them head to toe...changed everyone's clothes. The last thing I want right now is contact w/ that swine flu! Later during the day I noticed that my BH contractions were picking up to 4 an hour... I ended up calling the doctor and almost went in to labor and delivery... I also got another "silent migraine". It's my new thing?! I get the bad visual aura for 30-40 minutes but it never turns into a headache... thank goodness...-it's happened twice now. The doctor was borderline on having me come in to get checked out, but we opted to stay home when the contractions slowed down.

Last Tuesday I was able to volunteer in Luke's school for the first time. It was great to get a sneak peak at what goes on during his day and meet some of the children. The teacher stationed me out in the hall doing one of the worksheets with the kids and another small activity. Towards the end of the day, she called me in to help her work on a craft with the kids. I could see she REALLY had her hands full with so many students all needing and wanting her attention. I bet she is really exhausted by the end of the day! Luke was glowing with pride to have his Mommy at school today. It was fun to see the smile on his face when she brought him out to see me. He also liked the change in routine, since he was allowed to leave a few minutes early and come home w/ me vs. take the bus. He actually came w/ me to pick up Abby and got to be on the "other side of the door". Picking her up, and seeing his old teacher. I love how he gets excited to see Abby and the other kids. He's tickled at how small and cute they are. He asks her about her day and shows interest in her work. It's so special to see the brother sister bond unfold as they get older. I'm not sure how many more days I'll get to volunteer b/c I have a feeling this baby of ours wants to come early!

Friday in the middle of the night I was awoken by a sharp pain and continuing ache in my left back side. I got up and walked around and could not make the pain go away. My tummy was rock hard.. I was fearful of back labor? or something... so at 1:30am, we packed up the kids and headed to the hospital. Once they they determined that the contractions were not just BH but the beginning stages of labor, they checked me and discovered I was 2 cm dilated, so they gave me a shot to slow the contractions that may have been causing me to dilate a little bit to early. They think the contractions were stirred up from the UTI that I was having.. the two are often linked together. They sent me home when the contractions slowed but a few hours later they started again... I ALMOST called the doctor, when they stopped.. so, I've been laying low, fearful of preterm labor starting if I do too much. I have had a lot of pressure in my tailbone and down low, and the contractions are hurting and making me stop in my tracks now vs. the light BH ones I had experienced earlier in the pregnancy. Baby is still too young to arrive, they would really like me to get 3 more weeks under my belt before she arrives, so I think I need to take it easy as much as I possibly can.

Sorry no pictures this time... -Beth
