Luke's Family party

Look who's 6! This year Luke wanted a Star War's Themed birthday. Or course Wal-Mart didn't carry Star Wars, so Mommy had to do some creative thinking... and spending! :( anyways... I ordered the "Star Trek" cake, and changed it up a bit.... then I made a trip to the toy aisle, to find a few things to add to the top of the cake, which later became the rest of his birthday presents. I thought the cake turned out pretty good! The blue and black dye in the cake was NOT very appetizing to me... but the kids thought their blue tongues were funny.
We are trying to curve some of Luke's interests... b/c ALLLLLL he wants are Lego's... and really about all he does is Lego's. Well after the incident taking apart his Leapster.... and trying to build a Walkie Talkie... we decided maybe he needed some new toys! Mamaw got him two great kits to get his "wheels turning"... one was a kit on electricity.. and another built all sorts of gadgets?

Eema (my mom -named this from Luke as a baby)... got Luke a book to store coins. It's really cool! Luke has a love of money. He loves to count and add up his money. He loves to look at coins from all different countries. So he had a great time looking through this book.Rich and Luke got busy right away w/ the various "electricity" projects. It was great learning!
Luke had fun following directions to build a Helicopter

Saturday afternoon we took the kids to the InField at Luke's request. He thought he wanted to ride the go-carts himself, but he soon changed his mind... he was pleased to ride beside Rich and race "Bappa"... Beth's Dad. The 3 had a blast, laughing and laughing. Poor Abby really wanted to join in the fun, but she has to be 4 years old before she can ride!

After the go-carts, we played a round of Putt Putt.

Mommy got very tired, and needed help bending to get her ball.

Overall I'd say Luke had a pretty good birthday weekend. Today we spent the day cleaning up and getting organized for the week. Tomorrow Luke starts his FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN!!!! I'm already emotional just thinking about it! I can't believe the day my baby gets on a school bus all by himself has actually come! Luke is excited about his first day. I'm glad that he's so easy going and comfortable with this b/c it makes it a LOT easier on me! I can't imagine how hard it must be to send a child off who doesn't want to go. It would just break my heart. I've already warned him that Mommy will probably cry, and it's ok! not to worry.
