Long John Silvers hats after lunch today.
We had a busy day today and it's only 1/2 done. I took Luke to school, then Abby and I swung by Gorman Nature Center to attend the class they have. I haven't taken her much b/c Luke was such a wimp about walking on the paths and wanting me to carry him.. .also he was bored.. so I was excited to see Abby being quite a trooper today! and very interested in the animals and lesson. Today they hiked up to a maple tree in the back woods that they had "tapped". sp? anyways.. there was a bucket full of sap hanging on the tree. He took it back and boiled it and served it to the kids w/ pancakes! It was so fun! Abby had so much fun she didn't want to go home. Then on the way home she told me "Mommy, we need a maple tree in our yard!" it was so cute!
.
Then we were off to music class at a friends house. The kids thrive on lots of outings and activities we can do together. I think we actually spend more time together at these outings then at home. It's focused one on one time (w/ each kid) instead of being distracted by the comforts of home and the escape of TV and computer! I think it depends on what your involved in too. Playgroups tend to be slightly mom focused.. while the kids play. I prefer the mommy and me classes. I think the kids feel valued to have their own special time away w/ Mommy, doing something all for them.
.
We rushed off to get Luke.. and met Daddy for lunch at Long John Silvers. The kids were amused by the pirate hats. This table of ladies kept laughing out loud at how their hats would fall over their eyes.. one lady went digging in her purse and brought over these two HUGE paper clips and fastened their hats just right, smiled and walked away! :) it was sweet and must have given them joy to see the kids wearing their hats w/ pride.
.
Now we're resting and preparing for our evening adventures.. I'm not so thrilled about my craft for Adventure Club tonight.. I don't know who makes these up, but I wish they would allow me to make my own crafts again!
all for now... -Beth
