skiing, ants and poop!

Last night I drove towards Cleveland to meet Dad and go skiing. It was a great time. My cousin met me up there as well. It was good to catch up, and remember the old days skiing at Boston Mills. The snow was kinda crudy, thick and grainy.. so it made skiing fast difficult, but the time together made it worth my drive.

speaking of drive.. I almsot drove off the road. I got lost and hit a turn going way to fast. I was a little too concerned about back-tracking.. and I guess I was just not paying attention to my speed, I was going straight most of the time and all of a sudden hit a fast sharp turn, that included a railroad! The car slid, I was terrified I was going off into the edge of the road. Luckily the car held and stayed the path! whew!!..... needless to say it shook me up a bit!Today we had Terminex? I think that's what they are called? come out.. we have a bad case of carpenter ants. We've been killing say 50-100 a day on warm days! then a few days ago some huge big ones w/ wings came out.. that was the last straw! We captured some in a jar, showed them to the guy and found out they are coming in a post out front.. apparently there is some water damage that they are attracted too. So now we're looking at roof repairs... blah blah blah... fun stuff huh?!?! we went up in the attick and there were just piles of these ants up there. Apparently our ant bait was working.. but yuck!! really gross. Also lots of evidence of mice up there he said.. so he threw out 16 things of mouse poison.. good thing it's in the attick! The kids and I had a busy day at home. I had a ton of cleaning/housework to catch up on. I go in spurts.. and tend to leave it over the weekend if I can. I also sorted through both of the kids closets pulling out clothes that they outgrew.. .and endless task!! Luke is really good about trying on pants for me. Abby would have nothing to do w/ it!

I spent some time working w/ each of them on some "school work". Luke was working on telling time and subtracting. Abby was working on cutting, pasting, stickers, and tracing shapes.

Poor Luke has a bad case of the poops... so he's been feeling rather miserable today w/ all the accidents! his poor little butt is raw.. and Mommy knows how he feels!

The kids were well behaved today. I had a nice Mommy moment w/ Abby today. I was cooking dinner, and I had some time waiting while my spaghetti squash baked.. anyways, we were dancing to some Christian songs I had going.. she layed her head on my shoulder....patted my shoulders and said "these are my places!" she said that to Rich once.. I just about melted!!! I was thankful I can still carry her. She didn't want to stop.. but after a bit my arms were tired! Mommy moments are good at the end of a long day.
