it's about 1am and I'm still wide awake. I took a nap today when the kids did. It felt so good! but now I'm never going to get to sleep and I'm hosting Thanksgiving tomorrow! I just finished mopping the floors at midnight!

I took Luke to church tonight b/c they had about 9 kids getting baptized. Since Luke asked Jesus into his heart a year ago, I wanted him to see how other children/adults were taking that a step further through baptism. There were a few 7 year olds. Luke looked back at me and said "wow they're brave!" I wasn't sure how well he was listening and all.. I wanted him to hear the testimonies of other kids who had accepted the Lord, b/c he doesn't really hear about that stuff from his friends. He needs to understand it's REAL in other kids lives too. Anyways... after a while he seemed to get bored w/ the whole thing, or at least he was stirring a lot in his seat. He kept bugging me asking me how to spell words... I kept "shhhhhing him..." then I looked down and realized he was drawing a picture about what he was learning from the experience tonight. A lot of the people had talked about sin in their lives and wanting to follow Jesus and live w/ him in Heaven on the "streets of gold" for eternity... check out this picture he made. :) He said the black heart was the heart full of sin... and I'm guessing the red heart or the gold heart is your heart once you've been forgiven? or once your in heaven? poor guy, I felt bad I shhhh'd him after seeing this! :) at least he understood some of it. The lil' guy is still afraid to put his face in water so I was worried he would scared off by the whole immersion part of this.

gotta get to bed! -Beth
PS another funny thing.. yesterday Luke was asking me which countries I've traveled too. So I pulled out my book of our adventures in Europe and showed him. He was fascinated by the places he recognized from the Little Einsteins. We got to one page where I had displayed a lot of the money from other countries before they switched to the "euro" sp? anyways.. we kept looking at the other pages in the book and Luke says "Mom, I'm still thinking about that money page!" (he's been real big in to counting his money and learning how to add it all up recently) I better hide my books well before he finds my coins!
He was bothered by the pictures from Pompeii and the volcano that erupted and buried the town. He told me he kept thinking about that and he never wants to go there! Little kids are so innocent... they assume this world is a safe place and little does he know about all the dangers out there. :( it's kinda sad to watch them grow up and learn about the bad in the world. We've shielded him from all bad TV shows and news channels that are inappropriate at this age.. but someday he's going to learn about this world he lives in. :( It's scary to watch this world they live in change so much. I wonder what he will endure? or his children?
