Today was my last chance to shop w/ 1 kid before the holidays! We have a packed schedule the rest of the preschool week. I got some shopping done during the preschool hour w/ Abby. Abby was so funny, we were in line and she was talking to the lady behind us, she said "this is my Mommy, BETH!".. I was like WHAT??!?!!? I'd never heard her call me by my first name before.

Then we picked up Luke. He was so sweet.. he pulled me down and whispered my ear (concerning the up coming Christmas play)... he said " mom we had practice today, and once I got up there I was ok!" He's been talking about how nervous he is to play the roll of Joseph for the school Christmas presentation. I told him we all feel a little nervous to do these things. I said even Daddy.. who's singing Sunday at church, he'll feel a little nervous when he goes up... probably very nervous! I told him it was normal to feel that way. I'm glad he's talking through this stuff to me.

After I got some of my cleaning and housework accomplished I promised the kids I'd play a game w/ each of them. Luke picked Sequence for Kids.. he won the first game fair and square.. funny thing is, he did tell me, Mom since YOU shuffled.. I hope you didn't take the good cards! Lil' Stinker! I wouldn't do that! the sad thing is I just HAPPENED to get the 2 best cards right after he said that.. I wanted to put them under the deck and lose so badly.. but I didn't! anyways.. I won the 2nd game and he through a fit! He said "Good game.. HUH!." arms crossed, eyes looking down... we had our 100th conversation about being a good sport.. and how we don't win every time ect..ect..I went off to play Abby's game and he through another fit b/c he wanted to play w/ us. I said no, this was my time alone w/ Abby now. So he slammed his door and stomped down the hall... got out the coloring paper and I could hear from the kitchen that he was trying his hardest to sound out some words.. he comes back down the hall and says "Mom how do you spell "come"?" I told him.. he runs back to the kitchen reciting C-O-M-E over and over....and then he made a paper to stick on his door that said "Do Not Come"... meaning do not come in.. he stuck it on his door and slammed it again.. then he pushed a big heavy container in front of the door so I couldn't come in. I tucked Abby in bed for nap time and headed to his room to give him his blankie and puppy.. I stopped at the door and said "I guess I can't come in to cover you up and give you your puppy"... and I walked off back down the hall "giving him what he wanted"... he opens the door half crying.. saying NO MOM.. I DO want you to come in!!!! I DO want you to cover me up! :) poor guy! You kinda gotta feel bad for him when he asks you how to spell the nasty note he's trying to make b/c he's mad at you! I tried hard not to laugh.

Abby wanted to do the Noah's ark puzzle.. we had fun together and she enjoyed not being bossed around for once. You see we're having a problem w/ Luke wanting to have ALL the attention.. Rich or I can give him attention and Abby will just go off and do her own thing.. when it comes to giving Abby attention. Luke insists that it's only fair that he plays too.. and that we can all be friends together.. and it's more fun w/ 3.. ect.ect.. He really has a way of making you feel awful for spending time w/ Abby! We do play together sometimes, but he refuses to allow us to give Abby her time alone. I am determined to give Abby her time.. and get through this some way or another.. he just can't be the center of attention all the time! I'm wondering if this goes on at school at all too?!! :( lessons to learn!!!!

Tonight we're thinking about going to Barnes and Noble to their Polar Express night. The kids are supposed to dress up in their PJ's for a special story. Sounds like fun!
All for now...probably more later!- Beth
