First Snow

burrrrrrrrrrrr another cold morning.. and today was the first day of SNOW!!! the kids were really excited to see that. Especially Abby. I on the other hand dread the next 5-6 months of bundling the kids up before we go anywhere.. The only good thing about snow is it's pretty, and if you have enough money you can go skiing!
.
It's been a little hard on me to keep Luke home from Kindergarten this year while lots of his friends start their first year...b/c I know he could keep up w/ the kids, but for his sake and w/ his size.. it's good to wait this year. Therefore...I was very pleased to hear that the reading coordinator had prepared a special assignment for Luke to push him a little since he's doing so well with reading. They gave me a clear backpack w/ the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie book, the mouse that goes w/ the book, and a sheet of questions for him to fill out after he reads the book. The teacher must have talked it up b/c he was very excited to pull the book out and get working on it right away.
Luke has been reading during his "nap" time. When he comes out of his room he proudly carries a few books and says he finished them. I usually let him cross off books on his reading chart after he reads them but now that he's reading on his own more I don't know if he's just saying that he read them... or really reading them, and I don't want to put that in to his head by asking him if he doesn't know he could trick me yet!! :) I do see him working on them, but I know there are tough words that he doesn't know yet. The teachers and a few others suggested that I quiz him to see if he is actually reading the book.
.
We dropped off some clothes at Good Will and drove by the house that blew up on Cook Road. They were still actively working on cleaning it up and probably securing any dangers.. I'm so glad the man got out of there in time! How scary and what a horrible mess! :( here is the link to pictures....
all for now....
